Effective 2 October 2026
1. Who we are
cwilt is made by James Fursedon, trading as cwilt, the data controller for this notice. Contact: support@playcwilt.com, or by post to cwilt, Unit 173642, PO Box 7169, Poole, BH15 9EL, United Kingdom.
2. The short version
cwilt has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. Your progress stays on your iPhone. The only thing that can leave the app is an anonymous count of events, such as "solved a first puzzle". You can switch that off in Settings.
3. What stays on your iPhone
Your puzzle progress, best results, streaks, badges, Hint use, levels you create (unless you submit one) and settings are stored only on your device, so you can pick up where you left off. We never receive them. Settings → Erase all data removes all of it. Deleting the app does too. Your own iCloud or device backup may include it.
4. Anonymous usage stats
If Anonymous usage stats is on in Settings (it is by default), the app sends counts of in-app events, such as solving your first puzzle, earning an achievement or opening the archive. Each count contains only the event name, the app version and the date. It contains no name, email, account, device identifier or puzzle moves, and it can't be linked to you. Counts are processed by TelemetryDeck, which says it doesn't store IP addresses and hosts its data in the EU. We use the counts to understand which features people use and to improve the game, which is our legitimate interest. Turn the setting off at any time. Unsent counts are deleted straight away.
5. cwilt+ and Apple
cwilt+ is bought and managed through Apple. Apple processes your Apple Account and payment details under Apple's Privacy Policy. The app only checks, on your device, whether your subscription is active. We don't receive your name, email or payment details. We see only aggregate sales figures from Apple.
6. Support emails and level submissions
If you email us, we use your message and email address to reply, and keep them for 24 months after your request is resolved. Please don't send passwords or payment details.
If you submit a level from Create, the app sends it to our server (api.playcwilt.com, run on Cloudflare). A submission contains the level's name and code, any credit name you choose to add (a nickname is fine), the app version and the date. It contains no email address, account or device identifier, and we don't store your IP address; Cloudflare uses it briefly to stop the service being flooded. We use submissions only to consider levels for cwilt. We delete ones we don't use within 24 months; if we include your level, we keep the level and any credit name you gave.
7. This website
playcwilt.com has no cookies, scripts, forms or analytics. It's hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as your IP address to deliver and protect the site, as described in Cloudflare's privacy policy.
8. Children
cwilt is suitable for all ages and doesn't collect personal data from anyone, children included.
9. Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or object to how it's used. In practice we hold none apart from any emails and level submissions you send us. Contact support@playcwilt.com. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office or your local data protection authority.
10. Changes
If this notice changes, we'll update the date above. If a change affects what leaves your device, we'll say so in the app.
